Snowfall Increases Tourists in Jammu and Kashmir

Tourists are rushing to enjoy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir. Tourist arrivals to Jammu and Kashmir has increased in past few days thanks to snowfall in Vaishno Devi, Patnitop and other destinations.


Tourist arrivals in Kashmir valley is particularly good after the months of dry period due to violence and stone pelting which was sponsored by the terror groups in Pakistan and Separatists in Kashmir.

But recent snowfall has brought back the cheer for the Jammu and Kashmir tourism. Hundreds of tourists have come to Srinagar in past few days. Frozen Dal Lake has become one of the popular attractions among tourists.
Patnitop has received highest snowfall in six years and probably the best during the peak season after many years. Tourist arrivals in this popular hill resort has increased. Hotels Occupancy rate has jumped from 40 per cent to 75-85 per cent in many areas.

In Jammu, popular pilgrimage destination Vaishno Devi has also received decent snowfall. Thousands of devotees have visited in past few days. Even though the peak tourist period for Vaishno Devi is May and June, tourist arrivals in January is also very good.

Tour Operators in Jammu and Kashmir are hopeful of great season ahead. However there are fears of Separatists sponsored violence in the valley which could affect tourism.
