Kashmir tense but politicians squabble

For more than a week Kashmir has been on the boil and is sinking into chaos. The nation has witnessed violent protests in the Valley over the civilian deaths, and in the middle of all of this a political blamegame has erupted.

After almost a week of violence in the valley, the political blame game has begun with 3 players and predictably, three versions.

Firstly, the Separatists denied stoking the violence and instead pointed fingers at the Mehbooba Mufti's PDP for the ongoing violence. Former Hurriyat Chief Abbas Ansari went so far as to say that it was the PDP that was behind a massive political conspiracy to topple the Omar Abdullah government.

He said, "It was when Mufti Mohammed was the Union Home Minister that violence in J&K increased. These forces have always halted the Kashmir peace process. The PDP(for the violence), and others are funding this violence. The whole conspiracy is to topple the Omar Abdullah government."

Meanwhile, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti has not taken these allegations lightly. She has in turn slammed the Omar Abdullah government for failing to take stock of the situation effectively.

She said, "The Omar government is responsible for the ongoing violence in the Valley. The government is also unable to curb the violence,"

Speaking to TIMES NOW, National Conference leader Mehboob Baig asked the Separatists and the PDP to refrain from pointing fingers at the Omar Abdullah government. Baig added, "PDP is pointing fingers are the government needlessly."

There are 3 versions from the political leaders in the valley. With the National Conference reprimanding the mud slinging, they maintain that the unruly youth were being encouraged to demonstrate on the streets of Kashmir.

This after the PDP singled out the Omar Abdullah government for failing to take stock of the situation and for failing to govern the state effectively.

The Separatists are adamant that the PDP is behind a massive political conspiracy to topple the Omar Abdullah government. They added that the PDP had a history of funding spates of violence.
