Mining in wildlife areas has become a source of concern for environmentalists

Anantnag, Nov 12: Mining in the mountains of Kashmir especially in wildlife areas has become a source of concern for environmentalists who mince no words to warn that it could trigger a threat to wildlife across the Valley, for which the valley is famous. 
         Experts said; Mountains and especially, forest areas play an important role in maintaining balance in the eco-system and disturbances in them can lead to a major environmental disaster, they said.
 An example of disturbance in wildlife areas is the extensive mining activities carried out in village Khiram 30kms away from distt. Anantnag .The mining activities in the foot of mountains has drastically affected the landscape and flora and fauna, experts said.   
 However, the mining in khiram  is going on from last few years. “The Gujars who works in the mine said the they are paying royalty to the Wildlife Deptt,by the department employees, but they have not the receipt of it. Among these Gujars, one Youns Ahmad said; with the help of some vaillagers we  are operating  mine last from few years and we are serving our livelihood on it, “whether it is illegal or legal we don’t Know “ he added.
  
 Experts said that due the ongoing mining and disturbance to the wildlife, wild animals came down in the residential areas, resulting a large number of casualties in the village and adjoining areas.
Imran Ahamd, a student while talking to Rising Kashmir said; if according to wild life guidelines anybody having some kind of agricultural tool is not allowed in the wildlife beat then on what guidelines one can operate a stone query in the area? He said it the highest example of corruption, “Forest and wildlife ministry should take a serious notice of it”, and he appealed.
M.A.PARSA Wildlife Warden south Kashmir when contacted in this regard, said that this very unfortunate, that some miscreants in our own Deptt. And from the village khiram are triying to break the norms, resulting disturbance to the wildlife and forests. He said we have already seized it and moreover we going tuff against them.
When questioned about why he had not yet taken a step aginst them, he said,”in recent times we have banned the structural works of some hotels in phalgam and we have transferred employees” that is not enough for them, he added
