Senior Hurriyat Leader and acting chairman JKPL, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has said that the Kashmir dispute can only be resolved through trilateral talks including Pakistan, India and the real leadership of Kashmiris. Waza urged India to release all the illegally detained pro-freedom leaders and activists, revoke all the draconian laws, withdraw its troops, promote cross-Line of Control trade and resume peace process with Pakistan. He said that the gross human rights violations in Kashmir and the talks could not go hand in hand. “Unless people see some change in ground realities in the region, the talks will not succeed,” he added. Waza lauded the programme of Mirwaiz Umer Farooq Sahab and appealed the people of Kashmir to march towards the office of United Nations Military Observers Group (UNMOG) in Sonawar on February 08 to seek international intervention on Kashmir and make the programme successful. Mukhtar Waza was placed under house arrest early this morning and prevents from addressing a gathering on Friday prayers at Islamabad.
Meanwhile a delegation of Peoples League headed by Imtiyaz Reshi visited the residence of Wamiq Farooq Wani, 14, at Raniwari who was killed by Indian troops, and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
