Sahil Suhail (Kashmir):-Aiming at making his governance with difference and reaching people at their door s, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minster Omer Abdullah has started meeting with public “Awami Darbar” process from Bandipora district.

“We will try reach people door to door so that on spot steps are taken to redress the problems of public in the state, ”said Chief Minster while speaking at the Awami Darbar this time held at Dak Bangloo Khanabal in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district .

He said that to govern differently the government will redress the problems of the people not from secretariat but on the spot after visiting door to door through out the valley. The Darbar was attended by a large number of people from Anantnag town, Bijbehara, Doru, Phalgam ,Shangus,and Verinag and other areas.

The chief Minster was accompanied by the Education Minster Peer Zada Mohd Syed, Adviser to CM Mubarak Gull, Social welfare Minister Mrs Sakeen Itoo , Cabnit Minister Taj Mohi-u-din,DGP Kuldeep Khuda and departmental head.

Hearing the grievances of the people CM said that the government will solve all the problems of the people not from Secretariat but on spot while visiting the door steps of the people.

“We will visit every area to hold the Awami Darbar in order to solve the problems at door steps,” said Chief Minster.

Highlighting the aim of Awami Darbar Chief Minster said “the very aim of such Darbars’ which will be held thorough out Kashmir is to end the gap between Brass administration and commoners”.

“It will benefit both the people and the government, we can solve lot of problems by interacting with the people and can make future plan for the development on the basis of representation receiving during the Darbar”, CM said.

Social Minister Sakeen Itoo took a detailed review of various developmental schemes in the district and issued on the spot directions to solve the problems of the people.

While reviewing the Execution of developmental works, the Minister asked all the concerned officers to boost the developmental work s in order to end up the prevailing problems if any in the area.

People comments:

Though the people with hope express happiness and appreciate Chief Minster on holding of Awami Darbars, most of the visitors people with their written representations in hands allege that the party workers were preferred on the poor commoners.

“It is less Awami Darbar than a political Darbar, as only political workers’ and party delegates are being allowed to meet CM”, Manzoor Ahmad of Bijbehara, I have come to the Darbar with lot of hopes remains empty handed I was asked to leave as I have no permission pass which has been given to choose few and also I was beaten by security forces out side Darbar”.

Another old lady said that it was during the time of Bakshi Gulam Muhammad and then Sheikh Shaib when such Durbar’s were to listen people’s problems.

“I wanted to meet chief minister regarding my old age pension but was not able to reach Srinagar” she said adding I got my grievance redressed here at my home town.

People suggest that when such Darbars are held comman man should be allowed to see the chief minister as government owe their duties towards them.

Appraising the Chief Minster efforts of bridging the gap between leaders and commoners by conducting Awami Durbar’s a young social worker Ishtiyaq Sofi said” it is good to hold such durbar’s as this will end the huge gap between a leader, Bureaucrat and a commoner who has to cross various levels to reach Minster or Chief Minster”.

“We hope that people may get relief problems are being solved on spot, it is a good step in modern governance it should be continued” Sofi added
