Islamabad, Jan 09: Reiterating government’s commitment of providing all basic amenities to the people of three regions of the state on equitable basis, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Muhammad Sagar Sunday said Omar Abdullah led coalition government would is committed to make Jammu and Kashmir a model state in India.
Addressing a public meeting at Gaantalpora Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district, Sagar said despite the unrest in last six months, the coalition government ensured basic facilities like power, ration, drinking water, medical and education for the people of Valley.
He also appreciated the administration for implementing the welfare and development programmes of the government. Regarding the employment for youth, Sagar said about one lakh employment opportunities are being provided to the educated youth this year. Besides, Sagar said, loans on low interest rates would also be provided to youth for establishing income generating units. He said the recruitment in police department has been made and 24000 candidates have been recruited so far.Earlier, Sagar distributed Rs 45 lakh in the shape of cheques among 225 beneficiaries of Bijbehara and Pahalgam under Indira Awaas Yojana as first installment. MLC, Altaf Ahmad Wani and District President, National Conference, Muhammad Akbar Ganaie also addressed the gathering. The Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad S Jaipal Singh and SSP were also present on the occasion.
