Islamabad, Dec 03: At least four persons were injured in mysterious firing at Shalegam area of Bijbehara in Islamabad Thursday night. Police, however, said the four got injured after an explosive material in the vehicle they were travelling in exploded.
Four youths, namely Irfan Ahmad Dar, (20) son of Showkat Ahmad and resident of Waghama; Reyaz Ahmad Dar (26) son of Mohammad Rafiq and resident of Waghama; Parvaiz Ahmad Dar (20) son of Mohammad Shabir, resident of Shalgam and Mohammad 35-year-old Ashraf Parray, son of Wahab and resident of Takiabal, Bijbehara got injured when they were traveling from Sirhama to Shaligam during night.
Families of the injured persons, however, alleged that the youths were attacked by unknown gunmen traveling in a loadcarrier. Locals told Rising Kashmir that at 11.57 pm on Thursday night, they heard a blast. “We rushed to the spot and found that four persons were injured. We shifted them to Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara,” they said.
Mohammad Shabir Dar, father of one of the injured Parvaiz said, “At 6 pm my son, a driver by profession, came back from Srinagar. He left home again with his maternal uncle Muhammad Ashraf but they did not come back till 12 pm. Then somebody told me my son have got injured along with three others.”
When contacted, Bashir Ahmad Khan, SSP Islamabad, said during the intervening night of December 2-3, four persons got injured in a mysterious blast in a desolate orchard at Shalgam, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bijbehara.
Khan said the injured persons were referred to SMHS Srinagar. “We have taken cognizance and registered an FIR No. 287/2010 in this regard,” he said.
According to the SSP, the four persons were carrying an explosive in a loadcarrier having fake registration number and the same exploded injuring them.
“Two quintals of fuki was recovered from one of the injured Muhammad Ashraf Parray and FIR No. 27/2007 stands registered against him,” he said.
