Tarigami condemns lathicharge on PDD daily wagers Vouches for their regularization demand

November 26- CPI (M) State Secretary Mohmmad Yousuf Tarigami has strongly condemned use of force on PDD daily wagers during their peaceful protests here, terming the incident as anti democratic and alien to civilized norms.
In a statement, Tarigami said that the poor daily wagers having served in the department for last many years deserve to be regularized by the government on priority, especially when it has already given assurance to this effect several times.
Tarigami urged the government to be responsive to their genuine concerns and not to allow the police to handle such issues with force and browbeating. “Force tactics only complicates issues and compels the protesters to adopt more confrontationist path”, he cautioned.
Maintaining that such issues are best sorted out through mutual dialogue, Tarigami urged the government to bring union leaders of the daily wagers on the negotiating table for amicable settlement of their demands. He said peaceful protests aimed at seeking redress of grievances is a constitutional right in a democratic set up and government can’t afford to trample it under any circumstances.
Strongly advocating the regularization demand of the protesting daily wagers, CPI(M) State Secretary said that the employees have rendered prime of their life to the department during which scores have died in harness and hundreds others got maimed.
