Srinagar, 5th Octbar::: Stressing a final and honourable resolution of Kashmir problem PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has said half measures and patch works could lead no where. Interacting with a team of diplomats from United States of American Embassy in New Delhi she said Kashmir represented a huge political and humanitarian challenge which must be addressed without distractions. Those who called on Ms Mufti at her residence included Kelash Jha.
Mehbooba discussed with the visiting diplomats the current situation in Kashmir in the backdrop of the heavy loss of civilian lines and disruption of normal life and economy. She said the entire population of Kashmir was facing an unprecedented trauma as 110 innocent civilian most of them children and youth had been killed in the last three months. The economy was in distress and all fields of life including the most crucial health and education were in a state of complete collapse.
Reffering to the gains of peace process after 2002 she said the threads needs to be picked up again on both external and internal fronts. She maintained that a peaceful and cordial atmosphere between India and Pakistan could provide the right space for resolution but for that to happen it was also necessary to create a condusive atmosphere in the state as well. The curbs on civilian life would have to be lifted and all sections of society engaged in a genuine exercise to find an honourable and lasting solution. She stressed.
